This year, Dark Mofo coincides with the opening of Mona’s library, The Phrontisterion, which has caused me five years of stress but, hopefully, will give those who visit a great deal of joy. If you come for the last weekend, revel your guts out in the city, but visit Mona to open your mind.
And while we are suffering the (hopefully) shorter term consequences of war in Iran, visit Julian Charriere’s HARD CORE, and see a preview of the pain we, as a species, might suffer in the longer term (also at Mona). You may want to close your mind, again.
—David Walsh
The solstice approaches, and soon darkness will wash over once more. It will seep, slowly, into every corner until it holds us in its cold embrace.
Within that shadow lies Dark Mofo 2026, and this year I invite you to sink into the silence and be held by the cacophony. To sit with the weight of that crushing stillness; the heaviness that gathers in moments of ritual, of reflection, of fear. And yield to the surge, the onslaught, the caterwaul of chaos as it closes in around us.
These currents shape the world we move through, and they will crest and fall against each other throughout the festival until that final moment on the shore. When the roar of the throng rises, dive into the deafening silence and emerge changed.
—Chris Twite, Artistic Director

PlannerOnce you’ve explored the program, click the bookmark icon to add events to your Planner. Use it to map out your Dark Mofo schedule and group your favourites for quick checkout once tickets go on sale. We’ve added some suggestions to get you going—customise at will.
Getting AroundHead into the night, check the map and get amongst it; festival venues are pinpointed, and most are within walking distance of the Hobart waterfront and CBD.
Free EventsLots of events in the art program are free, with some ticketed exceptions. The Nude Solstice Swim is free (but you do still need to register for a ticket), plus Ogoh-ogoh, Dark Park, Basilica, Pianos and Winter Feast after 9pm. Most free events will not require a ticket, so you may need to queue for an unknown amount of time.
Info BoothThe info booth is a resource for maps, programs and general information from our friendly staff. Find it outside MAC02 on Hunter Street.

Receiving Tickets
Shortly after ticket purchase, you will receive an email containing your digital ticket link. This link contains all your tickets for Dark Mofo (including any Mona tickets you’ve purchased—i.e. museum entry, ferry, and restaurant bookings). To prevent scalping, your ticket QR codes will become available 12 hours prior to each event.
Each time you place an order, you’ll receive a new ticket link and the previous one will expire. Treat this link as your ticket—don’t share it around. If you lose your ticket link, you can request a new one here.
Check the fine print on your ticket for more information about each show including door times. If you're having issues accessing your ticket, please contact Bookings & Enquiries on tickets@mona.net.auopens in a new tab or +61 (3) 6277 9978opens in a new tab—or see box office staff.
Refunds
No refunds or exchanges, unless applicable under Australian Consumer Law. Please see our Terms + Conditionsopens in a new tab for more information.
Resales
If you can't attend an event, we offer an official ticket resale service for sold out shows. This service becomes available closer to the festival dates, in early May—we'll send you an email with more details then.
Waitlist
This year there is no general waitlist. If a show sells out, a dedicated waitlist will appear on the event page.
Be sure to subscribe for updates on any further ticket releases.
Scalping
If you are selling Dark Mofo tickets at a premium, we will cancel your order. And if you purchase a ticket from a third party, we can’t guarantee that the ticket will be valid, and you also lose all consumer rights—including the right to a refund (even if you have a valid reason). All tickets have a unique barcode that can only be used once (and can be cancelled by the powers that be, should you not play ball).
Ticket Limits
A maximum of one ticket per order applies to the Nude Solstice Swim, while all other events have an eight-ticket limit.
Pass Outs
Pass outs are available for some events, and will be clearly marked on your ticket. If you require a pass out, get a wristband or stamp from event staff before leaving the venue. Re-entry to all events is subject to capacity.
Lockouts
Some of our shows have lockouts. This means for some shows you’ll be permitted entry at a suitable break in the performance. For others, you won’t be permitted entry after the performance has started. Details regarding lockouts are clearly noted on tickets.
Booking Fees
An $8 booking fee applies to each Dark Mofo transaction, unless you’re grabbing Nude Solstice Swim tickets, or purchasing tickets on the door (at the advertised door price). If you’re grabbing Mona tickets only, the booking fee is $3.50.
Winter Feast
The feast is an outdoor event and Tasmanian weather is infamously unpredictable. Dress appropriately for rain, hail, shine and effing freezing temperatures. Shelter is not guaranteed and entry is always subject to capacity.
Entry
The Season Pass is your best bet. It grants you unlimited, priority entry to the feast for all eight nights. Alternatively, you can opt for a pass for your week of choice. Season Passes cover entry only—food and drinks will still be on you. There are no resales on Season Passes, so purchase wisely.
Single night tickets will be sold at the PW1 Box Office on the day from 4pm. Thanks to the generous support of the City of Hobart, entry to the feast on Sunday 21 June is completely free.
We do our best to prevent queueing issues but sometimes it happens during peak times when the feast is at full capacity. When you get here, please allow extra time to buy tickets and enter the site. Please note there are no pass outs for single night tickets—if you exit the venue, you will need to queue and purchase another ticket to re-enter.
Zero Waste
Food purchased indoors will be served in compostable containers, but alfresco eats will now be plated on reusable metal crockery. Once you’ve had your fill, your plates, bowls and utensils can be dropped off at the signed Plate + Scrape areas.
If you’re drinking at the Winter Feast, you’ll need to pay a $6 deposit for a reusable cup. This includes wine, beer and cider (you can swap out your cup for another kind when needed). You’ll get $5 back when you return your cup to the station near the exit.
Water stations are available freely at the feast.
Reusable plates, cups and cutlery are provided in partnership with the Department of State Growth.
