9–10 June

Swim the distance between Australia and Manus Island in a continuous relay. You’ll be guided by people from the local migrant and refugee community; they’ll prepare and support you, and share the journey with you. It's an invitation to participate—via an absurd swimming carnival—in our nation’s policy of exile and offshore detention. Presented as part of Dark + Dangerous Thoughts.

Please note: sessions run on the hour, every hour, and you must be able to swim in a 50-metre pool that’s 2 metres deep, for around thirty minutes. And be comfortable wearing an island-shaped Styrofoam hat while you do it. Registrations have closed, but you can just rock up on the day. Don't forget your towel and bathers.

Presented as part of Dark + Dangerous Thoughts.
