Ogoh-ogoh

A massive community ritual in three parts: Offer up your fears to this year’s ogoh-ogoh, a demon-like sculpture crafted by Balinese artists Ida Bagus Oka, Ida Bagus Antara, and Komang Sedana Putra. Then, join the procession to Dark Park, where our ogoh-ogoh—and our fears with it—shall be commended to the flames.

Commit your fears to a giant Maugean skate—a dwindling species found only in Tasmania’s Macquarie Harbour, where salmon is farmed nearby. Crafted by Balinese artists, it’s this year’s ogoh-ogoh: a totem-like sculpture derived from a Balinese Hindu purification ritual.
