Dark Mofo

program

We’re constantly evolving our systems and operations in the pursuit of a more sustainable festival. This journey is ongoing, as we continue to create tangible actions that limit our environmental impact. Part of that journey is engaging our patrons to take action with us.

Stuff You Can Do

Reuse Your Cup

If you’re drinking at the Winter Feast, you’ll need to pay a $6 deposit for a reusable cup. We previously did this with vino only, but now we’re including beer and cider (you can swap out your cup for another kind when needed). You’ll get $5 back when you return your cup to the station near the exit. Or, we can donate your deposit to our partners Southern Ocean Carbon Company who will use the funds to plant endangered giant kelp in southern Tasmania which will capture atmospheric carbon.

Catch the Bus

Metro Tasmania is offering Dark Mofo punters $2 rides in the urban bus zone. You can find the pass to access this offer on our Dark Mofo Instagram account (follow while you’re there), or you can download it here. Save the pass to your phone and show it to the driver to redeem your $2 ride.

Most buses arrive at the Hobart Central Bus Interchange on the corner of Macquarie and Elizabeth Street, which is within walking distance from almost all Dark Mofo venues. Routes and timetable available here.

BYO Drink Bottle

BYO drink bottle refill water stations will be provided at Winter Feast, Night Mass, Webster's precinct (Melville St Car Park), and MAC2, to prevent single use plastic bottles. We don’t like those.

Fly Carbon Neutral

For those flying to attend Dark Mofo, while we don’t yet possess the tools to transport you to Hobart via teleportation—airlines offer the option to fly carbon neutral as a way to offset carbon emissions. Your carbon offset contribution is donated to approved abatement projects under the Australian Government’s Climate Active Program.
